A small language tip

Tayyormisan?
Use this with a friend to ask “Are you ready?” A respectful form is Tayyormisiz?.

Hali tayyor emasman. / Endi tayyorman.
Compare “I’m not ready yet” with “Now I’m ready”. Here, emasman expresses “I am not”.

This means “I’m looking for my bag”. Sumka is a bag; sumkam is my bag; sumkamni marks my bag as the object. Qidiryapman describes looking for it now.

Sumkang stol tagida.
This reuses the location phrase from Lesson 28. Sumkang means “your bag”; sumkam means “my bag”.

Family & Culture Note

Role-play getting ready to go out together. Make picture cards for a bag and a book, ask whether your partner is ready, and answer according to your card. If something is missing, continue by describing where it is.

People can need different amounts of time to get ready. Take turns asking someone to wait and being the person who waits. For a real outing, check what you need together and try saying Endi tayyorman. when you are ready.
