Learn Uzbek — Lesson 12: Daily routine

← Study Uzbek · Review Lesson 11

Kun tartibi · Daily routine

Madina and Ali talk about their mornings. Practise describing a school-day morning in short sentences.

Today’s goal: Ask about a morning routine and describe two actions in order.

Read the conversation

Madina and Ali talk about their morning routines in Uzbek
Madina: Ertalab nima qilasan?
What do you do in the morning?
Ali: Men nonushta qilaman. Keyin maktabga boraman.
I have breakfast. Then I go to school.
Madina: Men ham maktabga boraman.
I go to school too.

Six morning actions

  • uyg'onaman — I wake up
  • yuzimni yuvaman — I wash my face
  • tishlarimni yuvaman — I brush my teeth
  • kiyinaman — I get dressed
  • nonushta qilaman — I have breakfast
  • maktabga boraman — I go to school

Put two actions in order

Men nonushta qilaman. Keyin maktabga boraman.
I have breakfast. Then I go to school.

keyin — then / afterwards
ertalab — in the morning

Ertalab yuzimni yuvaman. Keyin kiyinaman.
In the morning, I wash my face. Then I get dressed.

Your routine may be different. Choose actions and an order that fit your own morning.

A small language tip

Ertalab nima qilasan?
What do you do in the morning? This is an informal question for a friend.

Respectful form: Ertalab nima qilasiz?

Men ham maktabga boraman.
I go to school too. Ham means “also / too”, as in Lesson 9.

In Lesson 11, you used kiyaman with a clothing word. Kiyinaman means “I get dressed” and can be used without naming an item of clothing.

Your turn!

  1. Choose two morning actions.
  2. Say your first sentence, then start the second with Keyin.
  3. Ask a partner Ertalab nima qilasan?
  4. Swap roles and try again with different actions.

Quick quiz

  1. What does nonushta qilaman mean?
  2. How do you say “then” in Uzbek?
  3. How do you say “I go to school too”?
Check your answers
  1. I have breakfast.
  2. keyin
  3. Men ham maktabga boraman.

Family & Culture Note

People in the same home can have different morning routines. Ask a family member what they do first in the morning and find one thing you do alike and one thing you do differently.

Draw two activities from your morning. Arrange the pictures with a family member, then describe them using expressions from this lesson and Keyin. Focus on sharing your own routine rather than finding one correct order.
