Grocery Shopping in Korea: Where Our Family Shops
Grocery shopping is an ordinary part of family life, but it can reveal a great deal about living in another country. The stores, products, package sizes and ways of shopping may all feel unfamiliar at first. In Korea, our family does not depend on one place for everything. We often visit E-Mart for our regular weekend shopping. For larger shopping trips, we may go to Costco or Traders, and Korean traditional markets are also part of our routine. We sometimes order groceries through Coupang Rocket Fresh, use neighborhood marts for urgent needs, visit bakeries for bread and cakes, and shop at Central Asian grocery stores in Korea for more familiar products. Each place serves a different purpose. Some are convenient when we have a long shopping list, while others are better when we need only one or two items quickly.
